Preferred Specimen
10 mL whole blood in Pink top (EDTA) in original tube


Minimum Volume
3 mL


Instructions
  • Label the cord blood with the baby's Cerner or MS4 Label. The label should have full name, medical record number or history identification number, date collected, time collected, and the collectors initials.
  • If cord blood is not available, draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) MICROTAINER(S)® from a heelstick. Send 0.5 mL of EDTA heelstick whole blood. Contact Blood bank for ordering information:
