Preferred Specimen
Nasopharyngeal Swab (Dacron or Flocked) in Transport Media (e.g.: UTM, VCM, VTM, M4, M5, M6) or sterile saline.
Transport Temperature
Store and transport specimens between 2°C - 8°C (refrigerated).
Specimen Stability
Refrigerated specimens are stable for 72 hours.
Setup Schedule
Monday through Sunday, continuously between the hours of 5am - 11pm.
Report Available
Same day or next day depending on when specimen received into laboratory.

Clinical Significance
The SARS Coronavirus with CoV-2 RNA, Qualitative Real-Time RT-PCR test is a qualitative multi-target molecular diagnostic test that aids in the detection of COVID-19.
