Clinical Significance
Hepatiis Be antigen (Ag) indicates active HBV replication. Infectivity is evaluated based on Hbe Ag and HBs Ag. When Hbe Ag persists much longer than 10 weeks, the patient is likely to develop chronic hepatitis and be a carrier.
