Stool
- Para-Pak C&S Vial (Orange lid) - Fill to red line on vial.
Other Acceptable Specimens
Stool - Submit one of the following:
-
Para-Pak Formalin Vial (Pink lid) - Fill to red line on vial.
- 5 gm unpreserved stool in sterile screw-capped container.
Instructions
A copy of the Stool Collection Patient Instructions (English / Spanish) should be given to the outpatient or as follows:
- Collect stool sample and add to orange top vial.
- Add stool up to red line indicated on vial label.
- Twist cap on tightly and shake container well.
- Label each container (not the lid) with two patient identifiers (full name, DOB or MR), date and time of collection.
- If multiple specimens are submitted, they must be collected at least 1 day apart.
- Transport to lab at room temperature.
