Preferred Specimen
  • For Schistosomes (30 mL refrigerated urine), collect a midday random urine specimen or a 24 hour collection in a container without preservatives. Peak egg excretion occurs between noon and 3pm.
  • For filariasis (30 mL refrigerated, random urine) collect a voided specimen in a clean container.
