Nasopharyngeal swab
Instructions
Collect specimen using Universal Viral Transport Kit.
- Insert a flocked swab containing a dry tip into 1 nostril and into the nasopharyngeal area.
- Press swab gently against the nasal wall to allow swab to absorb secretions.
- Rotate swab 2 to 3 times and withdraw.
- Place swab into a Universal viral transport media.
- Break off shaft of swab and cap tube.
- Label container with two patient identifiers (full name, DOB or MR) and date and time of collection.
- Maintain sterility and forward promptly.
