Instructions
  1. Transport to lab on crushed ice.
  2. Specimen must arrive to the lab within 20 minutes of draw

Specimen Stability
Plasma EDTA Room Temp 30 minutes
Plasma EDTA (separated) 2-8°C  2 hours
Plasma EDTA (separated) -20°C  3 days

*Specimens drawn at Summit View (West ED) or other draw sites may be sent to a performing laboratory if plasma is seperated from the cells within 20 minutes of draw and transported to the appropriate lab, refrigerated, and within 2 hours.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Gross hemolysis, wrong specimen type for performing laboratory
