4.0 mL whole blood collected in a K2 EDTA vaccutainer (lavender tube)


Minimum Volume
0.5 mL whole blood


Other Acceptable Specimens
Whole blood collected in EDTA capillary tubes, raised bottom tubes, or 6 mL pink EDTA tubes


Specimen Stability
Samples stored refrigerated (2 - 8oC) with normal results may be analyzed up to 48 hours without significant loss of differential stability.
Microtainers should be analyzed within 4 hours of collection.
Sample stability at room temperature is 24 hours for samples collected in 4 mL EDTA tubes.  


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Clotted samples
Grossly hemolyzed samples
Contaminated samples
