Message
Folate is an essential vitamin vital to normal cell growth and DNA synthesis.  It is present in a wide variety of foods such as dark, leafy vegetables, citrus fruits, yeast, beans, egg,s and milk.  It is absorbed by the small intesting and stored in the liver.

Specimen Stability
If the assay will not be completed immediately, refrigerate the samples at 2 - 8oC.  If the assay will not be completed within 48 hours, freeze at -20oC or lower.  Frozen specimens can be stored for up to six months before testing.
