Free Thyroxine

Message
Along with Free T3, Free T4 regulates normal growth and development by maintaining body temperature and stimulating calorigenesis.  They also affect all aspects of carbohydrate metabolism as well as certain areas of lipid and vitamin metabolism.

Specimen Stability
Store centrifuged samples tightly stoppered at room temperature 15 - 30oC for no longer than eight hours.  If the assay will not be completed within eight hours, refrigerate the samples at 2 - 8oC.  If the assay will not be completed within 48 hours, or for shipment of samples, freeze serum at -20oC or colder.
