Patient Preparation
***ALL tests must be scheduled by calling 717-544-5941.***

Instructions
  • Specimen should be collected following a 2 day period of abstinence, but do not abstain for more than 7 days.
  • Specimen MUST be collected DIRECTLY into a clean, dry, leak-proof container.  Avoid lubricants.  DO NOT collect in a condom or transfer semen from a condom into another container.
  • ALL of the semen must be collected - the first portion of the specimen has the highest sperm concentration.
  • Label the container with the patient's name, date of birth, and date/time of sample collection.
  • Transport/delivery to the laboratory should be made within 30 minutes of collection (no longer than 60 minutes).  During transport, protect the specimen from extremes in temperature and light.  Recommendation is to put container in a brown bag and keep close to body temperature.
