Post-Prostatectomy PSA

Message
This test should be used to monitor for prostate cancer recurrence following radical prostatectomy and is reported with a lower limit of quantification of 0.05 ng/mL.  The cut-off for the detection of biochemical recurrence post-prostatectomy has not been well-established.

2.0 mL serum collected in a gold serum separator tube (SST)

2.0 mL serum collected in an orange rapid clot serum separator tube (RCT)


Transport Temperature
Store centrifuged samples tightly stoppered at room temperature 15 - 30oC for no longer than eight hours.  If the assay will not be completed within eight hours, refrigerate the samples at 2 - 8oC.  If the assay will not be completed within 48 hours, or for shipment of samples, freeze serum at -20oC or colder.
