Patient Preparation
Preferably, the woman should be tested two weeks after the first day of her LMP and not while menstruating. Patients should not use vaginal medication, vaginal contraceptives, or douches during the 48 hours prior to the appointment. Intercourse is not recommended for 24 hours before examination.
