Clinical Significance
This test utilizes PCR and next generation (ultra-deep) sequencing of proviral DNA to detect drug resistance mutations in the HIV-1 protease and reverse transcriptase genes. This information will assist clinicians considering a modification of the treatment regimens for virologically suppressed patients or for patients with a low viral load for whom an RNA resistance test was not successful.
