Clinical Significance
Vancomycin is an antibiotic used in the treatment of bacterial infections, especially methicillin-resistant staphylococci. Vancomycin is also used in treatment for penicillin-allergic patients who cannot receive or have failed to respond to other drugs, including the penicillins and/or cephalosporins and for other infections caused by vancomycin-susceptible organisms.
