Prothrombin Time with INR
If Prothrombin Time with INR, is minimally prolonged (12-14 sec), then Minimally Prolonged PT Profile, will be performed at an additional charge.
If Prothrombin Time with INR, is prolonged (> 14 sec), then PT 1:1 Mixing Study Profile, Progressive, will be performed at an additional charge.
Additional assays, if needed, will be performed at an additional charge to determine the cause of the abnormality.

Clinical Significance
The investigation of a prolonged Prothrombin Time will depend on the extent of prolongation. The investigation follows a testing algorithm with an endpoint of arriving at a final diagnosis, most commonly a vitamin K deficiency, anticoagulant therapy, specific factor deficiency, or an inhibitor of coagulation.
