Clinical Significance
The result of this immunohistochemical study is reported as a percent of tumor nuclei that demonstrate moderate or strong immunoreactivity. Various published studies have suggested that overexpression of p53 protein in breast cancer may be an unfavorable prognostic indicator. For other types of tumors, definitive interpretive criteria for p53 expression may vary.
