Clinical Significance
Paroxetine (Paxil®) is a psychiatric drug indicated for the treatment of depressive illness. Its clinical efficacy is similar to that of the traditional antidepressants but is reported to produce fewer side effects. Paroxetine's pharmacological effects are thought to be mediated through inhibition of serotonin reuptake in the brain.
