Preferred Specimen
Testing must be performed within 4 hours of
draw.
Draw blood in a special 2-mL blue-top (sodium citrate)
Greiner tube that should be obtained from
lab. . Do not centrifuge nor refrigerate sample.
Do not send via pneumatic tube system.
NOTE: Venipuncture should be performed using a 21G
or larger needle and the appropriate volume of blood obtained in
the sample tube following a discard tube of at least 2 mL of whole
blood. Do NOT draw a sample for this test after a tube that
contains EDTA (Purple Top).
