Blood and plasma or serum are required. Blood
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube, and send 3 to 5 mL of blood.
Note: 1. Indicate diagnosis and blood.
2. Label specimen appropriately (blood).
Plasma or Serum
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Plasma
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube. Spin specimen down and send 3 to 5 mL of plasma.
Note: 1. Indicate diagnosis and plasma.
2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
Serum
Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube. Spin specimen down and send 3 to 5 mL of serum.
Note: 1. Indicate diagnosis and serum.
2. Label specimen appropriately (serum).
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube, and send 3 to 5 mL of blood.

Plasma or Serum
