Preferred Specimen
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Genital (for females only):
Collect specimen using Xpert CT/NG Vaginal/Endocervical
Specimen Collection Kit as follows:
1. Using the cleaning swab provided, remove the mucus.
2. Using the specimen collection swab, collect the sample from
the appropriate area using standard techniques for
vaginal/endocervical specimen collection.
3. Break the collection swab in to the Xpert CT/NG
Vaginal/Endocervical Specimen Collection reagent tube provided in
the kit.
4. Label specimen appropriately.
Note: 1. Specimen source is
required.
2. Spermicidal agents and feminine powder sprays
interfere with assay and should not be used prior to
collection.
Urine (Male and Female)
1. Volume should be sufficient to raise the fluid volume in the
Xpert CT/NG Urine Transport Reagent Tube to the the dotted line on
the label of the tube.
2. Use the pipette provided in the Xpert CT/NG Urine
Transport Reagent Tube to add the urine the tube.
3. Mix well by gently inverting.
4. Label specimen appropriately.
Note: 1. Specimen source is
required.

collection.
Genital (for females only):
Collect specimen using Xpert CT/NG Vaginal/Endocervical
Specimen Collection Kit as follows:
1. Using the cleaning swab provided, remove the mucus.
2. Using the specimen collection swab, collect the sample from

Urine (Male and Female)
1. Volume should be sufficient to raise the fluid volume in the
Xpert CT/NG Urine Transport Reagent Tube to the the dotted line on
the label of the tube.
2. Use the pipette provided in the Xpert CT/NG Urine
Transport Reagent Tube to add the urine the tube.
3. Mix well by gently inverting.
4. Label specimen appropriately.
