Clinical Significance
Toxoplasma gondii is a parasite that can cause central nervous system infection, predominately in immunocompromised patients such as with HIV/AIDS.
Testing of cerebral spinal fluid for intrathecally produced IgM antibodies may assist with the diagnosis of central nervous system Toxoplasma gondii infection, along with clinical and radiologic findings.
