Clinical Significance
Villin, a cytoskeletal component of intestinal and renal epithelium, is most commonly used to differentiate metastatic carcinomas of intestinal origin from lung or breast. However, villin can also be positive in renal cell carcinoma, bladder carcinoma, and ovarian mucinous carcinomas.
