Preferred Specimen
4 mL urine from In-and-out or straight catheterized specimens, suprapubic aspirates, or cytoscopic specimens collected in a gray-top urine transport tube or UriSponge™ transport
Minimum Volume
Preserved: gray-top transport must be filled to minimum line printed on tube • Completely saturated UriSponge transport • Unpreserved: 0.5 mL urine

Instructions
Gray-top tube: Fill to the fill line (4 mL) indicated on the tube label.
UriSponge transport: Dip sponge applicator into the urine sample and submerge for 5 seconds. Remove applicator from the urine sample and return it to UriSponge transport, securing tightly.
Sterile container: Only for specimens <3 mL from pediatric specimens or from patients with renal abnormalities.
