Submit pure culture safely contained. Please indicate on the request form body site of collection and identity of isolate. An isolation charge will be added for organisms submitted in mixed culture. Send specimens at room temperature to the laboratory.

Appropriate antimicrobials will be tested. For Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations (MICs), order Test Code 779.

Clinical Significance
The susceptibility of a specific organism to a specific antimicrobial agent can indicate the relative success or failure that may be expected if this agent is used to treat that organism. Susceptibility reports can be used as a guide in the choice of therapy; to confirm an empiric therapeutic decision or to confirm antimicrobial resistance.
