This specimen was tested by the Roche Diagnostics HCV Real-Time PCR Assay.
The result given above is the number of international units (IU) of HCV RNA per 1 mL of plasma (viral load). changes of three fold (0.5 log) or more from the baseline level established for a patient are significant with regard to predicting disease progression and monitoring efficacy of anti-viral therapy.
This assay is not intended for diagnostic use. Results from this assay should only be used in conjunction with the patient's clinical presentation and other established laboratory test.

4 mL serum (SST tube) or plasma K2EDTA (lavender top) tube

3 mL serum or K2EDTA plasma

Specimens may be stored at room temperature or refrigerated for up to 24 hours prior to centrifugation. After centrifugation, transfer serum or K2EDTA plasma to plastic transport tube. Serum or K2EDTA plasma may be stored refrigerated for up to 72 hours or frozen for up to 6 weeks
