When the antibody titer is less than or equal to 1:8, no intervention is necessary. When the titer is greater than or equal to 1:32, amniocentesis or percutaneous umbilical cord blood sampling (cordocentesis) should be considered. (re. Int J Gynaecol Obstet 55(1996) 183-190). |
Clinical Significance
Antibody identification is needed to assess the risk of hemolytic disease of the newborn and to identify sensitized persons at risk in the setting of future transfusions.
