Ingestion of antimicrobials, proton pump inhibitors and/or bismuth preparations two weeks prior to testing may cause false negative results. A POSITIVE result obtained after ingestion of these compounds two weeks prior to testing should be considered an accurate result.

Clinical Significance
Colonization with H. pylori is associated with increased risk of patients developing gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric adenocarcinoma. Stool antigen testing provides a sensitive measure of infection, including during and after treatment.
