Room temperature

Specimen Stability
  • Paraffin blocks are stable up to 10 years at room temperature
  • Cut slides are stable up to 60 days at room temperature

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Absence of tumor cells or decalcified specimens will be rejected.

Methodology
Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH)

Clinical Significance
Rearrangements of the ROS1 gene have been identified in approximately 1-2% of NSCLS (non-small cell lung cancer) tumors. Crizotinib, a targeted tyrosine kinaze receptor inhibitor, has shown inhibitory growth effects on ROS1 rearranged NSCLC.
