Specimen Stability
ThinPrep samples are stable 6 months at room temperature. Samples will only be stored for 6 weeks onsite.

Samples submitted in the wrong collection container; specimen not labeled with TWO patient identifiers; ThinPrep vial received frozen.

Clinical Significance
This test detects all 14 HPV genotypes including differentiation of genotypes 16, 18, and 45 which account for approximately 70-80% of invasive cervical cancer cases worldwide.  

A cervical specimen should be collected by a healthcare professional using an endocervical collection brush/spatula and placed into ThinPrep PreservCyt solution
