Clinical Significance
Samples for potential Multiple Myeloma testing will need this code ordered. This code will allow the sample to be processed, fixed, and stored for up to 2 weeks. The RBC’s will be lysed and WBC’s will be fixed and frozen. Any residual sample from the enrichment can also be used for all other Heme FISH panels.
Any add on FISH testing must be requested within 2 weeks sample fixing; refer to specific FISH Panel test code(s)
The Pathologist must call the Alverno Central Laboratory Client Services department to add-on a specific Heme FISH panel.
Automatic reflex FISH testing will not be performed
