PARASITE IDENTIFICATION, MACROSCOPIC

Message

Ectoparasites such as spiders, ticks, lice, etc. are reviewed daily for genus determination. If a species identification is necessary, the ID will be determined by the department entamologist before the report is finalized.



Nemotodes (round worms), cestodes (tape worms), and trematodes (flukes), should be submitted in alcohol or formalin. These will be reviewed for presumptive ID within 24 hours. Definitive ID may take up to 3 business days.
