GLOMERULAR FILTRATION RATE

Message

The Glomerular Filtration Rate is not a stand-alone test. It is a calculation based off the serum creatinine and is used to monitor kidney function.  No billing is tied to this calculation.

eGFR is calculated using the CKD-EPI equation and results are in mL/min/1.73/m2

Please note: The GFR will only be calculated for patients 20 years and older.
For younger patients, test code GFR can be added on IF a creatinine has been performed, but the GFR reference range will be for  adults.  For pediatric GFR calculator, please refer to the National Kidney Foundation website at www.kidney.org/professionals/KDOQI/gfr_calculatorped
