Instructions
Collect fresh unformed stool in a clean container.  Transfer unformed stool to Cary-Blair media and refrigerate.  Alternatively, send unpreserved stool in sterile container with screw-top lid.  Avoid contamination with water or urine.

  • 15-30°C up to 24 hours
  • 2-8°C up to 5 days


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
The following conditions will result in a rejected sample:
  • Rectal swab
  • Sample submitted in fixative (Formalin or PVA)
