URINALYSIS WITH REFLEX CULTURE
MessageDue to the possibility of cross-contamination, aliquot specimens that have undergone automated microscopy are exempt from add-on testing. If add-on testing is desired, please send an additional aliquot specimen.

Clinical Significance
Microscopic exam will be performed only if dipstick is positive for blood, leukocyte esterase, nitrite, protein, or glucose >500 mg/dL.
Culture will be performed if >10 WBCs / hpf (per high-powered field) AND the leukocyte esterase or the nitrite is positive.
