This assay is highly sensitive to increasing concentrations of monoclonal free kappa or free lambda light chains in the serum of patients with evolving or relapsing myelomas.

Instructions

Remove serum from cells ASAP after clot forms or within 2 hours of collection.

Specimen Stability

After separation from cells:

  • Ambient (15-30C): 2 hours
  • Refrigerated (2-8C): 1 week
  • Frozen (-20C): 2 weeks


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
The following conditions will result in a rejected specimen:
  • Plasma
  • Room temperature specimens
