1 Gold tube (gel separator)

1 Green tube (any Heparin)
(Note: If Hep C testing is also required, do not draw heparin tube)


Instructions
Centrifuge for complete separation of plasma or serum and red cells. Refrigerate until tested.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Hemolysis (>500 mg/dL hemoglobin)

Reference Range
Non-Reactive
This test does not differentiate between IgG and IgM antibodies.


Clinical Significance
The total anti-HAV assay is indicated as an aid in the diagnosis of previous or ongoing hepatitis A viral infection or in the identification of HAV-susceptible individuals for vaccination.  This test provides a result for the total antibody but does not differentiate between IgG and IgM.
