Myco/F-lytic culture bottle


Minimum Volume
0.5 mL per test ordered (bacterial culture requires an additional 0.5 mL - see BMARC)

Yellow top SPS (Sodium Polyanethol Sulfonate) blood culture tube


Instructions
Clean top of collection bottle or tube with alcohol pad prior to inoculation

Room temperature


Specimen Stability
Process sample ASAP


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
The following conditions will result in a rejection:
  • EDTA samples
  • Heparin samples
  • Sample submitted in anticoagulant other than SPS

Report Available
Examined once weekly for 4 weeks.  Only one (1) preliminary report will be generated at first week if culture remains negative.  Final report available at 4 weeks.
