Instructions
Centrifuge for complete separation of plasma or serum and red cells. Separate and refrigerate until tested.

The following conditions will result in sample rejection:
- Samples collected in EDTA (lavender top) tubes
- Hemolyzed samples
- Lipemic samples

Reference Range
- A concentration <0.5 ng/mL represents a low risk of severe spesis and/or septic shock.
- A concentration >2 ng/mL represents a high risk of severe sepsis and/or septic shock.
Clinical Significance
This test is used to aid in the diagnosis of sepsis.
