Free Lambda and Kappa Light Chains (FRLAK) and Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPEN3) tests can be added on at physician request if clinically indicated.

Centrifuge for complete separation of serum and red cells.

2-8°C up to 10 days (samples are stored separately in Gen Lab)
Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
The following conditions will result in a rejected specimen:
- Hemolyzed samples
- Aliquoted samples

Report available within 24 hours M-F. Samples collected on Friday will be reported on Monday.
Clinical Significance
This test is used to ID the antibody or light chain responsible for the abnormal protein fraction in serum protein electrophoresis.
