Instructions

Centrifuge for complete separation of plasma and red cells. Aliquot (transfer) plasma into a transfer tube and refrigerate.

Specimen Stability
  • Plasma is stable at 2-8°C up to 24 hours
  • Plasma is stable 15-30°C up to 7 hours
  • Frozen plasma samples allow for a longer storage
  • Whole blood must be centrifuged and plasma removed within 7 hours of collection


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Hemolyzed samples will be rejected.
Whole blood samples cannot be used. Plasma must be removed within 7 hours of collecton.
