Instructions
Specimens are collected in Pharmacy. Fill to line on the media bag or designated amount per pharmacy procedure.
A Pharmancy Sterility QA Order Form for EACH test must be included.


Transport Temperature
Room Temperature


Specimen Stability
Stable at room temperature
Transport IV bag to hosptial laboratory as soon as possible


Report Available
Culture status reported on days 1, 7, and 14 unless turbidity (growth) is detected.


Reference Range
Negative for turbidity, an indication of microorganism growth.


Clinical Significance
Pharmacy IV minigabs are monitored for the presence of turbidity.  Turbitdity indicates growth from microorganisms and will be reported as positive.  A minibag clear on day 14 is reported as negative.
