Instructions
Random urine. Protect from light.
Transport Container
Protect from light. Transfer 2 mL aliquot from well mixed random urine to an amber transport tube (preferred) or protect the container from light with foil or place in an amber bag. (Min: 1.5 mL)

Refrigerated.
Specimen Stability
Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 7 days; Frozen: 30 days
Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Received room temperature. Not protected from light. Samples with a pH less than 4.0.

Clinical Significance
Clinical use is to diagnose porphyria cutanea tarda, hereditary coproporphyria, variegate porphyria.
