Clinical Significance
This test is useful for diagnosis and follow-up of hemoglobin variants and thalassemias. Reflexive testing, performed at additional charge, may include hemoglobin S solubility screen and/or acid hemoglobin electrophoresis. If unusual hemoglobin variants are suspected, specimen will be sent out for confirmation.
