Clinical Significance
Del(6q) has been found in a variety of B cell neoplasms, mostly in combination with other chromosome changes. Three regions of minimal critical deletions of 6q have been delineated and the existence of a tumor suppressor gene(s) on 6q, involved in the pathogenesis of lymphoma, has been proposed. Del(6q) as the sole abnormality or together with additional chromosome changes has been reported in 42-63% of patients with lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma.
