Centrifuge lavender top tube and aliquot 0.5 mL plasma (Min: 0.3 mL) into a standard transport tube.

Limitations
This test is performed using and electrochemiluminescent method. Values obtained from different assay methods cannot be used interchangeable. pancreatic Polypeptide levels, regardless of value, should not be interpretedas absolute evidence of the presence or absence of disease.

This test was developed and its analytical performance characteristics have been determined by Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute, San Juan Capistrano. It has not been cleared or approved by FDS. This assay has been validated pursuant to the CLIA regulations and is used for clinical purposes.

Clinical Significance
Detection of Pancreatic Polypeptide is used in the assessment of pancreatic tumor burden and to assist in the early diagnosis of pancreatic tumors. The measurement of pancreatic polypeptide  is also used to monitor pancreatic carcinoma therapy and to predict the recurrence of pancreatic tumors.
