Serum separator tube.

Centrifuge serum separator tube and transport, 1 mL serum (Min: 0.3 mL).

Transport Temperature

Refrigerated.

Specimen Stability

After separation from cells: Ambient: 7 days; Refrigerated: 14 days; Frozen: 30 days.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)

Gross hemolysis; grossly icteric, grossly lipemic

Clinical Significance

Infection by Coccidiodes immitis can produce a spectrum of disease with most patients being asymptomatic and some developing disseminated disease including pneumonia and meningitis.
