Limitations
Laboratory test results should always be considered in the context of clinical observations. This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by med fusion. It has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
(FDA). The FDA has determined that such clearance or approval is not necessary. This test is used for clinical purposes. It should not be regarded as investigational for research. This laboratory is certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments
of 1988 (CLIA) as qualified to perform high complexity clinical laboratory testing.

Reference Range
An interpretive report will be provided.

Clinical Significance
MDS is hematologic disorder characterized by heterogeneity in morphological and clinical presentation and approximately 50% of the cases have chromosome abnormalities. Cytogenetic studies have a major role in the evaluation of patients with MDS in regard to prognosis, clonality assessment and the recognition of cytogenetic, morphologic and clinical correlates. FISH can detect the abnormalities as deletions of chromosomes 5q, 7q, 20q and Trisomy 8 with a better sensitivity than classical chromosome analysis by karyotyping.

Performing Laboratory
med fusion
