Instructions
24-hour urine. Refrigerate 24-hour specimen during collection.
Transport Container
Transport one 10 mL aliquot of urine from a well-mixed 24-hour collection. (Min: 2.6 mL) Record total volume on transport container and test request form. 24-hour Urine preserved with 10 grams of Boric acid will be accepted but not required.
Transport Temperature
Refrigerated.
Specimen Stability
Ambient: 14 days; Refrigerated: 21 days; Frozen: 90 days

Clinical Significance
Urinary free cortisol is useful in the detection of patients with Cushing's syndrome for whom free cortisol concentrations are elevated.
