Clinical Significance
Type I Diabetes Mellitus is characterized by lymphocytic cell infiltration of the beta-cells of pancreatic islets.  Measurement of IA-2, GAD-65, and Insulin Antibody is a highy sensitive means to assess risk and predict onset of Type I diabetes.
